The INVITE Export Firm Support sub-component Advances Strategic Objectives at Grantees Induction Workshop

The Export Firm Support under Component 3 Enhancing Capabilities in Public Institutions and Private Firms on Wednesday 3, December 2025 held an Induction Workshop with grantees that have signed Grant Agreements for funding support under the World Bank/MDTF implemented by PSFU.

The workshop brought together 129 of Uganda’s manufacturing and exporting firms to provide guidance to the firms on the expectations under the EFS, while at the same time giving clarify on issues regarding data collection, engagement of consultants, expected deliverables and reimbursement requirements. All participants are ready to commence their implementation activities, and will be supported to meet consumer demand through specialized technical assistance and capacity-building activities.

Discussions focused on key priorities for the implementation period including:

  • Guiding applicants on the EFS processes and expected deliverables
  • Emphasis on the need for complete datasets to facilitate the M&E functionality
  • Support to applicants on the online system and the new design of the EFS application evaluation process
  • Information on environmental and social safeguards and clarity on the Environmental and Social Management Framework

Strengthening Business Partnerships

The Government of Uganda is seeking out businesses with tangible support for them to acquire productive growth and INVITE provides the avenue for these firms to achieve value from getting their products on to the international market. The firms in attendance are motivated to ongoing partnerships which marks a noteworthy step in collaborations that will grow and enable the EFS and INVITE achieve set objectives. During the meeting the firms guaranteed that their activities would be effectively and efficiently carried out as expected.

Début of the EFS Implementation by Grantees

The highpoint of the function was the début of the grantees’ implementation and this beginning strengthens the sectors which are receiving the support they require to grow to more profitable levels of production. The INVITE Project through the World Bank and a Multi-Donor Trust Fund with Netherlands, Sweden and United Kingdom governments, aims to create Private Sector Manufacturing jobs and increase incomes across Uganda by supporting firms and operates a range of products, including Developing Exporting Firm Capabilities; Investment in Refugee and Host District Supply Chains; Partial Credit Guarantee for Business Loans; Long-term Flexible Loans in Uganda Shillings; Cost-sharing of Loan Extensions; Loan Interest Discount; and Accelerated Invoice Payments.

This symbolises another stride towards the different interventions to get to the Tenfold Growth Strategy empowering Uganda to increase her Growth Domestic Product from $50 billion United States dollars to $500 billion by 2040.
