Tom Buringuriza has over 30 years of experience in the public and private sectors and is currently the Chairman of the Board of Citi Uganda and the Country Manager for Armour Energy Uganda, an Australian Oil Exploration Company with a bloc in Uganda. His diverse experience includes work with multinationals, such as DHL and MAERSK in East Africa, to working for the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) as Deputy and Ag. Executive Director for six years.

Tom was a member of the Presidential Investor’s Round Table (PIRT) interacting with the cabinet and with foreign Heads of State focusing on public private investment and policy. His experience in GTZ included initiatives in education, while the work for GIZ include consulting on public private partnerships in Oil and Gas. He also worked on the on the KFW Program for financing Vocational Training Centres.

At Strathmore Business School, Tom facilitates a number of Executive Business Education courses including most business, leadership, High Performance, strategy, Project Management and other related modules. He is assisting the catholic nuns in Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia and Uganda to skill in the creation of Social Enterprises.

Tom wrote and published a thesis on Promotion of Employment Oriented Skills Development in Uganda for his MBA. For his Doctorate, he wrote and published a thesis on Investment Promotion and Facilitation and New investments in Uganda.

Tom has a Bachelor of Statistics from Makerere University, and an MBA and a Doctor’s degree of Business administration, both from the Maastrich School of Management in the Netherlands. He is fluent in English, Luganda and has a moderate command of French.
